Everyone loves to hit the beach when they are on holiday, to relax and hear the water gently lapping at the shore. But there are some beaches that it's best to avoid unless you have a real need for fear.

Queensland, Australia - Queensland's waters are known for being full of dangerous critters, including the box jellyfish, which is responsible for scores of beach closures every year. Their venom is the most deadly of all marine creatures, and they kill in excess of two hundred people each year.

Bolinas beach, Northern California - this beach is part of the infamous red triangle, where packs of sharks feed on sea lions, the beaches of California are responsible for a quarter of the shark attacks reported in the US, and Bolinas is especially prolific. It is recommended that you don't swim at dusk or dawn, wear jewellery or ever go in the water if you are bleeding.

Kruger national park, Africa - this is a dwelling place of the hippo, one of the most deadly mammals in the world. They are responsible for over two hundred deaths each year, weighing in at seventeen tonnes. The hippo can easily outrun a human, and has been known to launch unprovoked attacks no the boats.

River Nile, Egypt - the Nile crocodile, the most dangerous of the croc family, is one of the only crocodiles who view humans as prey and attack thousands of people each year. They can live for up to one hundred years.
