The first Porsche Carrera GT came out of the assembly facility in Leipzig and made its debut in the American market on January 2004. The original intent was for Porsche to deliver 1,500 units. The GT is powered by a revised 5.7 liter V10 engine that produces 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower - 450kW and capable of rapid acceleration from 0 - 60mph in 3.6 seconds, 0 -100mph in 7 seconds and a maximum cruising speed of 205mph (330kph). It comes equipped with a traditional six-speed manual transmission with a birch/ash gear knob. The Carrera is sold in the United States at a base price of $ 444,000 or in Canada at $ 515,000 Canadian dollars. Units available come in 5 basic tones: guards red, fayence yellow, basalt black, GT silver and seal grey.
Aerodynamic refinements of the Carrera include large side inlets and airdams sculpted into the carbon fiber reinforced body, devised to cool the huge V10 engine framed also by a carbon fiber rear hood. The braking system of the car includes 15 inch ceramic brake pads that make a remarkable visual addition underneath the 19 inch front wheel and 20 inch rear wheel. And similar to other Porsche models, the Carrera sports an automated spoiler that deploys at speeds over 70mph.
